New Moon in Scorpio

A Collective Release and a Return to Your Truth

The New Moon in Scorpio invites us into the deep places where old stories live. This is a time to look at the patterns we inherited, the pain we never asked to carry, and the parts of ourselves that are ready to be witnessed and released. Scorpio energy brings honesty, intensity, and transformation. It helps us shed what no longer belongs to us so we can root into who we truly are.

Why This New Moon Matters

This season has stirred old wounds for many people. I have seen it in my clients through hip and low belly pain that feels directly tied to family trauma. These patterns are being pushed to the outer edges of the body and the aura, asking to be cleared.

Scorpio energy makes this possible. It supports emotional truth, deep self reflection, and the courage to break generational cycles. This moon reminds us that doing the right thing does not always feel comfortable, but it is still right.

Root Into Your Truth

Many of us are questioning what we were taught to tolerate or carry. This New Moon asks you to trust the part of you that knows when something no longer fits your life. Whether you are saying no, feeling emotions that never started with you, or letting go of expectations that were placed on you, trust that instinct.

Tip: When doubt comes up, pause and remind yourself that choosing your truth is not selfish. It is healing work for you and your lineage.

A Gentle Shadow Inquiry and Candle Ritual

This practice is simple, intimate, and powerful.

You will need a candle, paper, and a quiet moment.

  1. Light your candle and place your hand on your hip or low belly.

  2. Ask: What am I carrying that is not mine

  3. Ask: What part of my shadow is ready to be seen without fear or judgment

  4. Ask: What truth is waiting for me if I release this pattern

Write down whatever comes up. No editing. No second guessing.

When you are ready, tear the paper into pieces and burn them safely. Watch the flame transform what you no longer need. Let the warmth be a reminder that release can be gentle.

You Are Not Alone in This

This Scorpio New Moon activates a collective clearing. Many people are feeling the same unraveling, the same heaviness, the same shift. You are not doing this work by yourself. You are part of something larger and deeply healing.

How to Create an Ancestor Altar for Connection, Healing, and Guidance

Building an Ancestor Altar: A Guide to Connection, Healing, and Remembrance

Why Now Is the Time to Build Your Ancestor Altar

There’s a moment in the turning of the seasons when the air feels charged, the light softens, and everything around us begins to quiet. It’s a natural invitation to slow down and listen. The veil between worlds grows thinner, not because of a date on the calendar, but because nature herself is shifting.

All around the world, people have honored this in-between time in their own way:

  • Pitru Paksha (India): A time to express gratitude to ancestors through offerings, food, and prayer.
  • Dziady (Eastern Europe): Families light candles and share meals to honor their forebears and invite their blessings.
  • Día de los Muertos (Latin America): A celebration of life and remembrance with marigolds, candles, and joyful offerings.
  • Samhain (Celtic lands): The turning of the year, when fires are lit to welcome ancestors home and release the old.
  • All Souls’ and All Saints’ Days (Christian tradition): A period of prayer and reflection for those who have passed.

Every one of these traditions carries the same truth: when the world quiets, we remember. The air holds stories. The space between seen and unseen softens.

Building an altar now isn’t about following a rule or performing a ritual for others to see. It’s about creating a place of love, connection, and listening. It’s where you open your heart to the wisdom of your healed ancestors and feel the calm of knowing you’re not alone.

What is the Purpose of an Ancestor Altar

Your altar is not about performance or perfection. It’s about connection. It’s the bridge between your world and the wisdom that came before you.

When we build an ancestor altar, we’re creating a place where love can meet memory. It becomes a small doorway for the energy of those who walked before us, the ones who learned, healed, and grew before stepping beyond this life.

Here’s what an altar can help you do:

  • Remember where you come from, both in blood and in spirit.
  • Ground yourself in the strength of your lineage, especially during times of change or grief.
  • Heal inherited patterns by acknowledging them instead of carrying them silently.
  • Listen for guidance, clarity, or comfort when you need it most.
  • Honor those who shaped you, the ones who got it right and the ones who didn’t.

You can build your altar to reflect your heart. It can be simple or elaborate. There’s no wrong way to honor your ancestors as long as it feels sincere.

If you choose to ask for guidance, call on the healed ones, the ancestors who have learned, evolved, and carry wisdom without the weight of their old wounds. We can place anyone on our altar, but when seeking advice or messages, ask that the connection come only from healed and loving energy.

This practice isn’t about summoning or control. It’s about remembering. You’re tapping into an energy that’s already yours , one that connects you to your lineage and to the wider cycle of life itself.

Step 1: Preparing Your Space

Before you gather anything, take a moment to feel into where this altar wants to live. You do not need a big setup or fancy tools. What matters most is the energy of the space.

Look for a spot that feels calm, private, and meaningful. It might be:

  • A small table or shelf in a quiet corner
  • A dresser top with room for a candle and a few photos
  • A place outdoors where you can safely light a candle or leave offerings
  • The corner of your desk where sunlight hits each morning

Once you have chosen the space, clear it intentionally.

Wipe it clean, open a window, or burn herbs if that feels right to you. You might hum or play soft music while you prepare it. Do whatever helps you feel present.

This is the beginning of your invitation. You are saying, “This space is ready for connection.”

Sit quietly for a moment and notice how the energy feels. Some people sense warmth, others feel chills or tingling, or simply a deep calm. Whatever you notice, trust it. This is where your altar will begin to grow.

Step 2: Creating the Foundation

Every altar begins with a base that holds your intention. This is the root of your connection.

Start with a cloth, scarf, or piece of fabric that feels right in your hands. Choose a color that speaks to you rather than worrying about symbolism. Lay it down slowly and smooth it with care.

Add an element of light such as a candle or small lamp. The flame represents warmth, guidance, and presence.

If you wish, place a small bowl of water for emotion and memory, or a stone, flower, or branch to ground your space in nature.

Move slowly as you arrange these pieces. There is no perfect way to do this. Let your body tell you when it feels settled. When you look at your altar and feel a quiet sense of calm, you are ready to move on.

Step 3: Choosing the Items for Your Altar

Now that your foundation is set, it is time to add meaning.

Choose items that feel personal.

You might include:

  • Photos or names of loved ones who have passed
  • Heirlooms or small belongings that carry their energy
  • Natural items like stones, flowers, or soil
  • Offerings such as bread, fruit, honey, or water
  • Light or grounding symbols like candles, crystals, or salt

As you place each object, take a breath and hold the intention:

“I honor you. I am listening.”

This simple act weaves energy into the altar so it becomes more than a display. It becomes a living space for connection.

If you include ancestors who struggled, that is okay. When asking for guidance, invite only the healed ones who carry wisdom and love.

When the space feels calm and complete, trust that it is. That quiet sense of peace means your altar is ready.

Step 4: Activating and Inviting Connection

This is where your altar becomes alive. You are opening a line between your heart and the energy of your ancestors.

Take a few slow breaths and let your body relax.

Light your candle or touch one of the objects on your altar. Feel your awareness settle into the space.

Speak softly, either out loud or within your heart:

“I welcome my healed ancestors and loved ones. May this space be filled with peace, guidance, and love.”

You can add your own words if you like. What matters is your intention and presence.

After you speak, sit for a few moments in silence. Notice what happens in your body. You might feel warmth, cool air, or the familiar chills that tell you you are not alone. If you wish, close your eyes and ask for a sign in meditation. Ask for something gentle that lets you know your ancestors have heard you. It might come as a sensation, a dream, or a small synchronicity in the days ahead.

When you are ready to finish, thank your ancestors and close the space with something like,

“Thank you for your presence. You may rest now.”

Your altar is now active. Each time you return to it, the connection deepens and becomes easier to feel.

Step 5: Maintaining and Working With Your Altar

Your altar is a living space. It holds energy, memory, and emotion. Caring for it is a way of tending to your connection with the unseen.

Keep it clean and fresh. Replace offerings regularly, clear away dust, and check that candles and fabrics feel safe and peaceful. This is not about keeping things perfect. It is about keeping them cared for.

You can visit your altar as often as you like. Some people sit with it daily, while others return during full moons, anniversaries, or times of change. Each visit renews the energy between you and your lineage.

When you sit at your altar, breathe and let your body soften. Speak to your ancestors as you would to someone you love. You can share your day, ask for guidance, or simply sit in silence and listen.

If you ever feel unsettled or heavy afterward, pause and ground yourself. Step outside, drink water, or place a hand on your heart until your body feels calm again. This helps balance the energy and keeps your connection steady.

At the end of each visit, say thank you. Gratitude strengthens the bond and reminds both you and your ancestors that this relationship is built on love.

Closing Thoughts

Your ancestor altar is a space of love, not perfection. Each time you light a candle or speak a name, you open a quiet doorway of connection.

This practice reminds you that you are not alone. The healed ones walk beside you. Their strength and wisdom live within you.

Trust what you feel. When the air shifts or a chill brushes your skin, take it as a gentle reminder that they are near, listening, and proud.

Keep your altar simple, alive, and true to your heart.

How to Take Care of Yourself During the Holidays Without Burning Out

The holidays are supposed to feel magical—but let’s be real, they can also be a lot. From endless to-do lists to family expectations, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed.

Here’s the thing: You don’t have to do it all. This season, you deserve to protect your peace and focus on what truly matters to you. In this blog, I’m sharing three ways to take care of yourself during the holidays so you can enjoy the season without burning out.

1. Set Boundaries
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is that honoring where I’m at is essential, even if it means disappointing others sometimes.

For me, setting boundaries looks like:

    • Deciding what’s truly important: Who I want to see, what I want to do, and focusing on those things.

    • Weighing my feelings: If something feels overwhelming or unnecessary, I give myself permission to say no.

The truth is, not having to recover from the holidays is a gift I give myself. When I prioritize in this way, I’m able to show up fully for the people and experiences that matter most to me.

2. Prioritize Self-Care
Self-care doesn’t have to be elaborate—it just has to work for you. One of my go-to practices during the holidays is taking showers or baths.

Why?

    • It’s a chance to clear off energy that doesn’t feel aligned.

    • It’s forced alone time in a season that’s often packed with social commitments.

    • It’s a mini reset that warms me up and recharges my spirit.

Your self-care can be anything that helps you feel grounded and reconnected—whether it’s journaling, a short walk, or even just five deep breaths. The key is to make time for it, no matter how busy the season gets.

3. Simplify Where You Can
There’s so much pressure to make the holidays “perfect,” but I’ve learned that simplifying makes the season far more enjoyable.

Here are a few ways I’ve let go of holiday stress:

    • Scaling back on gifts: We focus on experiences instead of endless presents. Gift-giving is wonderful, but not at the expense of financial stress.

    • Reframing family visits: We don’t travel home during the holidays. Instead, we visit when the weather is nice, and everyone can relax more.

    • Releasing unrealistic expectations: The holidays don’t have to be a production. Traditions are lovely, but very few things are worth sacrificing your peace.

By letting go of the need to do everything, I’ve created space to truly enjoy the season and focus on what matters most to me.

Conclusion
The holidays don’t have to leave you feeling burnt out. By setting boundaries, prioritizing self-care, and simplifying where you can, you’ll find more joy and ease in the season.

Remember this: You deserve a holiday season that feels good for you. Traditions and expectations don’t define your peace—you do.

Full Moon in Taurus: Finding Stability, Grounding, and Inner Strength

The Full Moon in Taurus is here, bringing with it a chance to reconnect with stability, find grounding, and harness inner strength. Known for its steadfast energy, Taurus is symbolized by the bull—a powerful creature that remains calm, strong, and immovable. This Full Moon invites us to embrace these qualities, creating a sense of peace even amid life’s challenges. Here’s how you can use this energy to bring stability and resilience into your life.

The Importance of Stability Right Now

This year has been full of uncertainty. Many of us feel shaken, disheartened, or just plain exhausted. The Taurus Full Moon encourages us to find our footing even in uncertain times. Like the bull, we can feel our own power, find our own weight, and stay grounded. When life pulls us in different directions, Taurus energy helps us stay connected to our inner strength.

Practice Acceptance to Ground Yourself

One grounding technique that aligns perfectly with Taurus energy is acceptance. Rather than expending energy trying to change what we can’t control, we can practice accepting what is. By staying mindful and present, we avoid draining our energy on things outside of our influence. When you feel energized, take small, intentional actions toward your goals, then return to your day-to-day life knowing you’ve made a meaningful effort.

Tip: Focus on small, intentional actions that keep your energy high without overextending yourself.

Channeling the Steadfast Bull’s Power

Picture the Taurus bull: steady, powerful, and resolute. If a bull doesn’t want to budge, nothing will move it! This Full Moon, aim to embody this energy. By accepting the ground we stand on, we create peace in the present and maintain connections with our families, work, and lives.

Mindset Shift: Imagine yourself as the bull, standing firm and grounded. This strength can help you stay resilient even when circumstances are challenging.

Reflect on Past Resilience

The Taurus Full Moon is a perfect time for reflection. Think back to a moment in your life when you didn’t think you’d make it through… yet you did. What strategies helped you through that time? Were they healthy, or is there room to learn from them now? By revisiting past resilience, we can remind ourselves of our strength and apply positive coping techniques to future challenges.

Reflection Exercise: Write down one time you overcame a difficult situation. How did you get through it? Recognize and celebrate the resilience you displayed.

Create a Cozy “Nest Spot” for Grounding

Taurus energy loves comfort and coziness. This Full Moon, create a “nest spot” where you can feel safe and grounded. Gather your favorite blankets, pillows, and maybe even light a candle with a soothing scent. Take some time to just sit, watch the candle flame, and release any energy that doesn’t serve you. This little oasis allows you to pause, breathe, and find peace in the moment.

Nest Spot Tip: Choose a candle scent that feels grounding to you. Watching the flame can be a meditative way to let go of stress and relax.

Nurture Your Supportive Relationships

This Full Moon also highlights the value of supportive relationships. We all need people who truly see us, validate us, and help us feel understood. Take time to reflect on who those people are in your life and consider ways to nurture those connections. Building supportive relationships can help us feel more grounded, stable, and at ease.

Action Step: Reach out to someone who makes you feel seen and valued. Nurturing these connections can add stability to your life.

Final Thoughts

The Taurus Full Moon is an invitation to embrace strength, stability, and peace within ourselves. By channeling the grounded energy of Taurus, we can navigate uncertain times with calm and purpose. Take a moment to appreciate your resilience, and remember that, like the Taurus bull, you have the power to stand firm, find your balance, and let go of anything you no longer need.

Samhain: What is it?

Samhain: Honoring Our Past and Building Our Future

Fall is in full swing, and with it comes the season of Samhain (pronounced “sow-en”). This ancient Celtic festival, celebrated on November 7th, marks the end of the harvest and the beginning of winter. But more than that, Samhain is a powerful time for reflection, transformation, and honoring our ancestors.

Often called the “Witches’ New Year,” Samhain is about more than just looking back—it’s about moving forward, taking the wisdom from those who came before us, and using it to shape a brighter, stronger future. I love how this holiday is echoed in traditions around the world, like Día de los Muertos and Chinese ancestral festivals. They all hold that same deep respect for the people who paved the way for us.

What I find most inspiring about Samhain is that it’s not just about the ancestors you know. It’s also about honoring the people further back—the ones whose names you might not know, but whose choices and lives shaped the world you live in today. Whether they made great decisions or struggled, there are lessons there for all of us.

This is why I’ve chosen Samhain as the focus for my upcoming event. It’s always felt like the perfect time to slow down, reflect, and immerse ourselves in a deeper connection with our lineage. By drawing strength from their experiences, we can build a stronger future not just for ourselves, but for future generations.

And you don’t need to attend a big event to experience this power. Whether you’re joining me for my Samhain celebration or creating your own ritual at home, I encourage you to take some time to think about the people who came before you. What can you learn from their lives? How can you take their lessons and grow into the strongest version of yourself?

Samhain offers a chance to embrace the cycle of life—honoring the endings and celebrating the new beginnings. It’s about recognizing that we’re part of something bigger, and that the choices we make today will shape the generations to come. Let’s use this time to reflect, transform, and carry that energy forward.

Managing Stress: Finding Calm in Chaos

Managing Stress: Finding Calm in Chaos

Managing Stress: Finding Calm in Chaos

Introduction: In the last couple of months, I’ve had to let go of our beloved Great Dane, Merle, celebrate my oldest child becoming an adult and graduating high school, as well as deal with season changes that inevitably cause some of my chronic health conditions to flare up.

Luckily, I have a huge toolbox and can pull from many different resources! Some of the simplest ones, like acknowledging my feelings, naming them to tame them, and really knowing where my boundaries were on what I could handle made a world of difference for me.

Stress management is one of the most important things we can do in our spiritual journey. If our bodies are constantly in fight or flight mode, we are in survival mode. When we manage our stress, we give ourselves room to breathe—literally!

Techniques for Managing Stress

Mindfulness and Meditation: One of my favorite mindfulness practices is “Name Them to Tame Them.” This doesn’t require much more than a feelings wheel ( The University of Arkansas has a great feelings wheel. Download it here). Try to really look at what feelings you are having beyond just anger. Is it frustration, sadness, regret, or jealousy? As soon as we name our emotion or feeling, we start to put light on it, and even this can cause it to dissipate some.

A simple meditation technique you can try is to close your eyes and start at the top of your head, scanning down your body. I like to picture a copy machine with a white light scanning down. Notice any tight spots or dark, gunky spots in your mind’s eye. When you hit them, just notice any thoughts or feelings that come up. Don’t try to change anything; just notice. Once you are done, take a deep breath and open your eyes. This can take as much or as little time as you need.

Meditation was a game changer for me. I started out with insight meditation, so it always has a special place in my heart. This is a great one because it doesn’t require you to tune out and ignore the world. You actually tune in and take away the labels. When I learned to calm the mind and react less to external stimulation, that was when I started living my life from a space of creation versus reaction.

Don’t want to do it alone? Book a private session with me here!

Physical Activity: I know the running joke when people don’t feel well is “have you tried yoga?” As someone with a chronic illness, when I was in the deep stages of healing, when someone would say that to me, I had a lot of mental images. That’s all I will say about that! But yoga or stretching really is great for stress! Any movement can improve your mood greatly. They have just recently found that moving our muscles actually secretes an anti-depressant-like hormone. Doing movements like walking that slow the heart rate down is better for you than ones that speed it up!

Read the article here: https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/the-healthy-journey/202209/why-working-your-muscles-can-be-a-powerful-antidepressant

My personal routine when I am in a position where stress can be high includes walking for at least 30 minutes a day, yoga in the morning or just before bed, and engaging in non-contact boxing once a week.

Breathing Exercises: Box breathing is a great technique. Inhale for four counts, hold for four counts, exhale for four counts, and hold for four counts. Another effective exercise is lion’s breath. Inhale deeply, then open your mouth wide and exhale forcefully, making a “ha” sound.

These exercises work by increasing the amount of oxygen in your body, which can create a euphoric and relaxed feeling. Practice these as often as you can, especially when you feel stressed.

Healthy Eating: Eating well can make a huge difference in how we manage stress. Consuming whole foods, staying hydrated, and avoiding processed foods can help keep our bodies and minds in balance. Foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids, like salmon and walnuts, can help reduce inflammation and support brain health. A simple, stress-busting snack is a handful of nuts or a piece of fruit. Remember, what we eat can directly impact our stress levels, so choose foods that nourish and support you.

Sleep Hygiene: Quality sleep is essential for managing stress. To improve sleep, create a bedtime routine that signals to your body it’s time to wind down. This could include activities like reading a book, taking a warm bath, or practicing gentle yoga stretches. Ensure your sleep environment is comfortable, dark, and cool. Better sleep helps our bodies recover from stress and prepares us to handle challenges more effectively.

Time Management: One of my favorite time management techniques is the Pomodoro Technique. This involves working for 25 minutes, then taking a 5-minute break. Repeat this cycle four times, then take a longer break. Writing down tasks is crucial. Don’t try to keep everything in your head—it will only stress you out! Write down all the things you need to accomplish, then identify those with real deadlines, like bills or job expectations. Categorize the remaining tasks by their importance to you.

Connecting with Others: Social support plays a significant role in managing stress. Growing up, I had an independent mindset as the youngest child with two older brothers. The motto “I don’t need anyone” was burned into my brain, but it was damaging. Over the past 20 years, I’ve found friends, family, and my husband who support me when I need a boost or just need to know I’m not alone.

Conclusion:

Managing stress is essential for living a balanced and healthy life. Remember, you don’t have to go through it alone. Incorporate these techniques into your daily routine, and don’t hesitate to reach out for support when you need it. You’ve got this!
